Toni has experience in a variety of settings. While at the University of North Texas,, she focused on treating adults. At the end of that program, she decided to also take advantage of the opportunity to study Play Therapy at UNT which is also known as the largest play therapy training program in the world. She completed her internship at Galaxy Counseling Center, a non-profit organization, where she conducted play therapy, adult, couples, and family therapy. She also co-led their adult anger-management group.
At Therapy on the Square, a private practice in McKinney, Texas which is owned and operated by her former Play Therapy professor, she completed 3000 post-graduate hours where she counseled various clients dealing with such concerns as grief, divorce, co-parenting, anger management, self-esteem, abuse, trauma, and relationship conflicts. Additionally, she conducted social skills groups and child-parent relationship training groups. She has spoken to dozens of organizations across the metroplex on various topics including relationships, parenting, and insight into children’s behaviors.
Her continued desire to learn more led her to Dr. Terry Kottman, the creator of Adlerian Play Therapy. While running her private practice, she also traveled frequently for extensive training under the direct instruction of Dr. Kottman. Toni now provides basic, intermediate, and advanced trainings on this topic to interns and fellow colleagues. She has been the keynote speaker for the Texas Association for Play Therapy annual conference in 2016 & 2017.
Unwavering passion and dedication to helping others is the heart of her practice.
